Cawston Church – Scaffolding removed

The scaffolding has now been removed and the magnificent angel nave roof is now visible.

The HLF awarded £221,800 to carry out urgent repair work at the church. The building work is due to be finished in August 2019.

What repair work is being undertaken?

  • Repairing and re-leading the North and South Clerestory windows.
  • Improvement of rainwater goods and underground drainage around the building.
  • Reordering the Chancel.
  • Detailed survey and analysis of the condition of the Nave Angel Roof, Rood Screen and Wall Painting.

    These repairs only address the most pressing problems.They are part of a much needed and more extensive programme of repairs to the church.
